Description
Confirmed the preliminary countervailing duties imposed in August 2019 on imports of palm oil-based biodiesel from Indonesia.

EUROPEAN UNION biofuel policy (retaliatory import tariffs): In December, the European Commission confirmed the preliminary countervailing duties it had imposed last August on imports of palm oil-based biodiesel from Indonesia (see MPPU Sep.19). According to the Commission, Indonesian producers were able to sell their product at unfairly low prices because they benefited from grants, tax breaks and access to raw materials below market price. Reportedly, the Indonesian Government is considering taking legal action against the EUs decision.
