Production sustainability policies

Announced that, from 1 January 2020, a levy would be collected from oil-palm growers for each tonne of palm oil produced. The proceeds would be used to support public reforestation and wildlife protection schemes and thus help raise the industry’s environmental credentials.

MALAYSIA – production sustainability, palm oil (production cess): From 1 January 2020, all oil palm growers will be required to pay MYR 1 (USD 0,25) per tonne of crude palm oil produced in support of the Government’s environmental agenda. Reportedly, proceeds will be used to fund public reforestation and wildlife protection schemes. The initiative is expected to help raise the industry’s environmental credentials.
