Trade differences (vs. European Union)

Dropped plans to file a WTO complaint against the European Union’s restrictions on palm oil-based fuels, explaining that instead it would advocate changes in the treatment of palm oil during the review of the EU’s policy scheduled for 2021.

MALAYSIA – export policy – palm oil: Senior officials informed that the Government decided to drop its plans to file a WTO complaint against the European Union’s restrictions on palm oil-based fuels (see MPPU June’19) – thus diverging from Indonesia’s initiative in this regard (see MPPU Jan’20). Instead, Malaysia would advocate changing the treatment of palm oil during the review of the EU’s policy scheduled for 2021.
