BRAZIL biofuel policy: On 18 November, concerned about dwindling domestic supplies of soyoil (the primary raw material for biodiesel production in Brazil) and high food and beverage prices fuelling consumer inflation, the National Energy Policy Council determined that biodiesel producers may use imported raw material in addition to locally produced oils and fats. The resolution does not specify how long the measure will remain in effect. (See also MPPU Sep./Nov.20 on other measures introduced to address Brazils exceptional shortage in soyoil supplies.)
