Description
Announced that 800 million people covered by the National Food Security Act (NFSA) would be provided with a per person monthly ration of 5 kg of rice or wheat, free of cost, under a new round of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana programme. The scheme, which aims to assist people in coping with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, would be implemented for two months, starting on 1 May 2021, and would provide the said supplies in addition to existing assistance under the NFSA.
