Announced plans to set up the country’s first biodiesel production facility. Based on plans to implement a 5 percent blend mandate for transportation diesel, the plant could absorb up to 20 percent of the country’s soybean production.

BOLIVIA – biofuel policy: After approving domestic production and marketing of biodiesel in 2019, in March 2021, the Government announced plans to set up the country’s first biodiesel production facility. The plant, which would use soybean oil as its main feedstock, was expected to start operating in 2024 and would have an annual production capacity of 500 million liters. Based on plans to implement a 5 percent blend mandate for transportation diesel, the plant could absorb up to 20 percent of the country’s soybean production.
