The European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EuFMD)

The FMD Working Group

An FMD working group is established under the Global Framework for the Progressive Control of Transboundary Animal Diseases (GF-TADs), composed of seven experts from WOAH and FAO, including one EuFMD representative (currently, the EuFMD Deputy Executive Secretary).

This group is accountable for the effective implementation of the Global FMD Control Strategy, coordinating actions at global, regional and national levels. The FMD working group interacts with a wide range of public and non-public stakeholders. These include:

- FAO and WOAH regional and sub-regional representations;

- members of the FAO/WOAH network of Reference Laboratories for FMD;

- members of the Global Coordination Committee for FMD (which EuFMD is a member);

- national Veterinary Services wishing to progress their FMD control.

The FMD working group’s routine operations are facilitated by a Support Unit, hosted by EuFMD.
