The EuFMD supports global surveillance through regular agreements with WOAH/FAO Reference Laboratories for FMD.This assistance encompasses international sample shipment and diagnostic reference services, laboratory capacity development, and strengthening of reference laboratory network. This work contributes to a continuous understanding of FMD virus dynamics, and in this way we can anticipate and prioritize the risk of introduction into EuFMD member nations. 

In partnership with the World Reference Laboratory for FMD, surveillance data are collated and disseminated into: 

• Quarterly global FMD surveillance reports
• Dashboards: the WRLFMD hosts a series of dashboards under the OpenFMD portal.  

These surveillance reports and dashboards provide useful information for: 

• FMD risk managers (EuFMD Member Nations, free and endemic countries)
• The “FMD community” (academics, researchers, scientists)
• EuFMD Member Nations and European Commission stakeholders
• Vaccine manufacturers
• Other international and regional organizations (including FAO and WOAH).
