The European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EuFMD)

1st Series of National Workshop Iran (Islamic Republic of) - CIRAD LoA

07/07/2021 -
Online,

The EuFMD Pillar II workplan ‘Risk reduction’ aims at assisting regional networks, risk-based surveillance and capacity building in the European neighborhood for FMD and similar transboundary animal diseases (referred to as FAST diseases). As part of this workplan, and in the framework of a bi-annual collaboration with CIRAD, the EuFMD is proposing a series of virtual workshops with three pilot countries of the European neighborhood, namely Tunisia, Egypt and Islamic Republic of Iran, to better understand drivers of livestock mobility. For each pilot country, as series of three virtual consultations with members of the Veterinary Services and other relevant stakeholders involved in the livestock production and marketing chains will be jointly organized by EuFMD and CIRAD.

The virtual workshops for IR of Iran will be held on 7 July 2021, 20 September 2021 and 18 October 2021. The same participants will be invited to attend the three workshops that would last 3 hours each.

  • Participants: 12 participants including national experts from the Iran Veterinary Organization (IVO) and other key national stakeholders involved in livestock production and marketing chains.
  • EuFMD Technical coordinators: Bouda Vosough Ahmadi, Etienne Chevanne;
  • CIRAD workshop facilitators: Andrea Apolloni, Alexis Delabouglise.

The 1st workshop will aim at reconstructing the national value chains for large and small ruminants (building on the analysis done for the RBSP where available), identify their actors and “locate” key premises along value chains at country level (the flows from producer to consumers will be qualitatively described, as well as the intermediate steps and actors, the type of production (industrial, familial) and products/commodities (sold alive or processed));
