The EuFMD organizes a FMD-PCP virtual workshop in order to follow up on the work done in 2019-2020 on the development of a risk-based strategic plan (RBSP) for FMD control, focused on developing the strategic objectives and tactics to be included in the RBSP and designing sero-surveys to assess the level of FMD virus circulation through testing against NSP-Ab in Lebanon and the Syrian Arab Republic.

The virtual workshop is planned to be organized on Wednesday, 28 and Thursday, 29 July 2021 with specific objectives to: 

• Review the results of the sero-surveys carried out to assess the level of FMD virus circulation through testing against NSP-Ab in Lebanon and Syria;
• Review the results of clinical surveillance;
• Plan next steps to move forward along the PCP through the identification of major Strategic objectives in relation to the following four components: (i) Livestock and Stakeholders; (ii) Diagnostic and Surveillance; (iii) Veterinary Services; (iv) Prevention, Control, and evaluation;
• Start drafting the Risk-Based Strategic Plan.
