The European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EuFMD)

Workshop on Applied public-private partnership (APPP) Sudan Pilot Country

09/08/2021 - 10/08/2021
Online,

Within the current workplan of the European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EuFMD), the EuFMD has developed a series of v-learning courses, which aim to build the skills needed to develop and implement FMD control strategies under the PCP-FMD. “Applying public-private partnerships to control FAST diseases (APPP-FAST)” is among these pivotal courses that have been delivered in 2019 and 2020. This course provided participating countries with the required knowledge and skills to analyze opportunities for PPP related to control FMD and similar transboundary animal diseases (referred to as FAST diseases), as well as,  develop and evaluate a business case and share experiences towards the establishment of an enabling environment for public and private sector collaboration in FAST control.

The main objective of the v-workshop is to: agree on designing and implementing PPP projects in Sudan particularly, in the context of the export of animals and also to discuss opportunities and options for regular reporting the progress of such PPP projects in Sudan.

Other objectives of the v-workshop are to:

  • provide a reminder/review of the contents, methods, skills and knowledge to the colleagues who attended these courses or to new nominees of the invited countries;
  • work on previously submitted APPP-FAST proposals or new proposals that will be followed up in the course of the current EuFMD workplan;
  • discuss opportunities and options for regular reporting the progress of APPP-FAST projects in Sudan;
  • agree on further activities focused on designing and implementing proposed APPP-FAST projects in Sudan.
