The EuFMD, as part of the support provided to the South Eastern Europe countries under Component 1.4 of its workplan, will implement a FMD drill simulation exercise in Albania on the 6th and 7th July 2021.  

This simulation exercise will be split in two events: a tabletop exercise, which was held on 22 September 2020 and a field exercise (drills on a farm) on the  6th–7th July 2021. 

The objectives of the drill simulation exercise are to assess the ability of field staff to:

• carry out biosecurity procedures when entering and leaving the farm;  
• carry out clinical examination and ageing of lesions;  
• obtain and package samples for FMD confirmation;  
• carry out epidemiological enquiry via interview and complete epidemiological report.
