The purpose of this workshop is to: 

  • Allow the participating countries to present their current surveillance strategies for FAST diseases and identify strengths and weaknesses;
  • Strengthen the collaboration and communication among participating countries; 
  • Facilitate the group work and discussion on:
  1. the principles and structure of a robust surveillance systems;
  2. the principles of risk assessment and risk-based surveillance focusing on FAST diseases; potential biases in surveillance data and how surveillance for multiple FAST diseases can be integrated and implemented in a specific area; 
  3. Provide an overview of methods for monitoring and evaluating surveillance including the design and use of performance indicators.
