2nd Meeting of the EuFMD Public Private Sector Platform on Vaccine Security: Improving security of supply through enhanced cooperation

The European Commission for the Control of FMD organised a follow up to the meeting ‘Explore options to improve security of vaccine supply against Foot-and-Mouth and other similar transboundary diseases’ held in FAO, Rome, Italy 22-23 January 2020 [link to published report] which will take place online from 10.00 on 25th January 2022.  The meeting focused on the following topics:  

  • Update on establishing a sustainable system for pre-qualification of vaccines against FAST diseases within EuFMD and how this would fit within wider processes for long term agreements (LTAs) between manufacturers and users for supply of FMD vaccines  
  • The role of the Public-Private Stakeholder Platforms in the context of policy decisions on the use of vaccines by public and private sectors (for improved accessibility of vaccines) 
  • Estimating vaccine demand and how improving accuracy can promote vaccine security 
  • Update from AgResults FMD Vaccine Challenge Project as a case study in stimulating private sector engagement in FMD control 

The meeting will be of interest to all stakeholders with an interest in the use of vaccines as part of measures to control FMD including veterinary authorities, FMD vaccine producing companies, reference laboratories, vaccine regulators, and governmental and non-governmental organisations involved in the procurement and supply of vaccines.
