Hybrid Real-Time Training
Online and Turin, Italy
The new proposed hybrid format would allow participants from EuFMD Member Nations to receive face-to-face RTT in non-endemic settings, while achieving the same learning objectives of the original RTT. By using innovative learning methodologies this course will ultimately enhance the learning of the participants and the impact of the programme. The course structure can be also used by EuFMD Member Nations to ensure cascade training after the RTT, in order to ensure wider impact of the training events implemented in endemic countries. The course is focused on FMD and can be expanded to other similar TADs.
Objectives of the course are to:
- Identify clinical signs of FMD;
- Estimate lesion ages;
- Document clinical findings;
- Take samples to permit laboratory confirmation of disease;
- Submit samples to the laboratory;
- Interpret laboratory results following submission of suspect FMD samples to the laboratory;
- Construct an epidemiological timeline for backwards and forwards tracing;
- Design and construct an investigation using the principles of outbreak investigation;
- Assess risk factors for FMD spread and appraisal of farm biosecurity;
- Demonstrate principles of biosecurity when entering/exiting FMD infected premises;
- Outline FMD emergency response options available in the scenario provided.
The induction phase will be held virtually from 6th to 19th June. Then a face-to-face event will be held in Turin (Italy) from 21st to 24th June.
