Eighty-two countries from Africa, the Middle East, and Asia participated in this training course.    

This online course will be open for four weeks on the EuFMD vLearning platform, during which participants must complete approximately 16 hours of self-directed study.   

  The learning objectives are to:  

• Develop value chain maps for a sector in your country; 
• Identify risk hot spots in value chain for their sector; 
• Describe a risk pathway for hot spot in the value chain;  
• Identify potential disease control measures; 
• Assess impact and feasibility of risk mitigation measures. 

The topics covered include:  

• value chains; 
• risk analysis basics and hotspots; 
• risk pathways; 
• options appraisal and development of risk management strategy. 

The target audience are veterinarians working in central level veterinary services in countries not free of FMD, who are responsible for disease control, epidemiology or risk assessment and are directly involved in the development and implementation of risk-based strategies for FMD and similar transboundary animal diseases control.
