Objectives of the regional workshop:  

• Introduction of the partner countries to the topic of syndromic surveillance (SyS), its minimum technical requirements and the findings of the literature review report on SyS efforts at the global level; 
• Reflections by the partner countries about the opportunities and challenges for developing a SyS.  

The specific objectives are to: 

• Introduce the concept of SyS; 
• Explore the modern agro technologies applicable to SyS; 
• Review the Literature review report providing examples of SyS at the global level; 
• Discuss the triple S guidelines and the technical requirement of SyS; 
• Understand the current situation of surveillance in the respective countries; 
• Discuss the feasibility (strengths, constraints) and benefits of adopting a syndromic surveillance in the respective countries;  
• Brainstorm on the potential sources of data and integration of syndromic surveillance into current surveillance efforts.
