Group for Vaccination Advice (GVA) for FAST diseases in the South-East European Neighbourhood (SEEN) countries

21/02/2024 -
Online,

The aim of the vaccination advisory group is to assist countries of a region in the design and implementation of post-vaccination monitoring activities and act as a platform to exchange experience and expertise on vaccination for FMD and Similar Transboundary (FAST) animal diseases.

The objectives of the current GVA meeting are to:

  • support countries in studying the immune response generated by the vaccine and ensuring vaccine protection against the specific serotypes of the FMD virus circulating in the region;
  • promote monitoring the effectiveness of vaccination programs among SEEN countries;
  • encourage collaboration and information sharing among SEEN countries, as well as with international organizations and reference laboratories;
  • validate the proficiency of laboratories in producing reliable results, contributing to capacity building efforts by promoting continuous learning and improvement in diagnostic capabilities among laboratories in SEEN countries;
  • support countries in simplifying vaccination schedules, making it easier for farmers to protect animals against multiple diseases with a single vaccination event.
