As part of the support of the European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EuFMD) to North African countries, a Regional Training Course on Rift Valley fever (RVF) was organized in collaboration with the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell'Abruzzo e del Molise Giuseppe Caporale (IZSAM) in Teramo on 25-26 September 2023.

This workshop aimed to bring together experts from Algeria, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia to discuss the situation regarding RVF and to develop the capacities of these countries to control the disease. During the workshop, the participants had the opportunity to work in country groups and they created an action plan aiming to improve surveillance and control of RVF in their countries.  

The EuFMD has organized two follow-up webinars: 

• The first one will be held on 5 March 2024, from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. (CET): this webinar will concern the action plans prepared by the participants. They will have the opportunity to briefly present their work and to discuss common regional priorities.  
• The second will be held on 11 March 2024, from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. (CET): following the request of the participants of the regional workshop, this webinar will concern practical aspects of entomological surveillance.  

The webinars will be conducted in French.
