EvalForward Community of Practice

13/03/2023

EvalForward is a new Community of Practice (CoP) for evaluation in agriculture, food security and rural development. It brings together officers and professionals to exchange experience and to strengthen capacities for evaluation at country level. EvalForward intends to contribute to the assessment of progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 2: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.

The CoP is a joint initiative of the FAO Office of Evaluation with WFP, IFAD and the CGIAR research partnership.

Why EvalForward?

The objectives of Eval-Forward are to enhance awareness and improve evaluation capacities at country-level in food security and nutrtion and contribute to the assessment of progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 2. The Community of Practice welcomes evaluators, development practitioners, policy makers, parliamentarians, government officers and researchers interested to expand their knowledge of good evaluation practices in agriculture, food security and rural development.

EvalForward activities aim to:

  • Facilitate the exchange of evaluation information, practice and knowledge among its members, leading to greater awareness and offering opportunities to learn from each other’s experiences,
  • Promote networking among peers, opening up collaborations and synergies,
  • Offer updated resources and information about events, conferences, and training opportunities.

How to get involved?

Go to the Eval-Forward website and register to the community. Eval-Forward operates through a moderated mailing list (Dgroup) which allows immediate exchanges among members. Participants can write messages in English, French or Spanish, as messages are translated in the three languages. On the website, you will find a document repository of evaluation resources, information on future events and a blog section, to which members are welcome to post reflections on lessons learned, challenges and various aspects of evaluations.
