2nd Asia-Pacific Evaluation Association (APEA) Conference in Manila

Dr Masahiro Igarashi, Director of FAO’s Office of Evaluation (OED) will give a keynote presentation on Connecting the dots: Food and agriculture for people, planet, prosperity and peace - Evaluation in the SDG era at the 2nd Asia-Pacific Evaluation Association (APEA) Conference in Manila, the Philippines on 28 February 2019. He will also moderate a panel discussion on the topic of multi-sectoral views and experiences in results evaluation for peace, security and sustainable development.

In recognition of the importance of supporting regional evaluation networks, OED with Eval Forward is contributing to this week-long conference (25 February - 1 March 2019) by leading a pre-conference workshop entitled: The evaluation is for you! Increasing evaluation utilization and ownership through stakeholder engagement by means of workshops, knowledge management, and Eval Forward.

Additionally, two papers stemming from the results of OED’s evaluation will be presented in two separate thematic sessions of the conference. Harvey Garcia will present a paper on Evaluations in Agriculture of Emerging Market Economies: Increasing Interdependence and Trade-Offs between Sectors and Mikal Khan will present a paper titled Evaluating results under SDG 17: how to assess the effectiveness of multi-stakeholder partnerships for policy change and sustainable development, the case of the Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock Development.

APEA is a regional organization for evaluation in the Asia-Pacific that started in 2012. It aims to improve the theory, practice, use, and institutions of evaluation across the Asia-Pacific. It advocates the building of capacity among individual evaluators and member organizations representing Asia Pacific countries as it advances the principles of transparency, accountability, and learning toward a just and progressive society.
