The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is pleased to invite you to the Green Cities Initiative 2nd year anniversary event.

In September 2020, FAO launched its Green Cities Initiative aimed at improving the livelihoods and well-being of urban and peri-urban populations in at least 100 cities around the world in the next three years, and 1000 cities by 2030. Over the past two years, almost 80 cities have been involved in activities and projects with FAO.

Register and join us on 2 November 2022 from 14:00 to 15:30 CET to better understand how cities are engaging in green and sustainable urban transformation. After keynote speeches from FAO Director-General, the Minister of Environment, Rural Modernisation and Kalinago Upliftment, Dominica, UN-HABITAT Executive Director, the Global Environment Facility CEO and Chairperson, and the Deputy Director-General of the European Commission's Directorate-General for the environment, to understand the challenges at global and regional level. Mayors from Tunis, Florence, Quelimane, Nairobi and Colombo, will talk about Green Cities in action. They will present their policies and projects and reflect on ways to accelerate actions with the aim of Supporting cities to be greener. Learn about the achievements of the Initiative over the past 2 years.

Interpretation will be available in all six UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish).
