Soil Microfauna - Mycorrhizal Community in Soil

Arbuscular mycorrhiza fungi (AMF) are soil microorganisms that can form mutualistic relationships with most terrestrial plants. The AMF spores germinate, infect the root system, and form arbuscules structures inside the cells serving as sites for nutrient exchange between the plant and the fungi.

Depending on the plant species, growing practices, and environmental conditions, mycorrhizae provide different benefits to plants and the environment such as enabling plants to take up more nutrients and water from the soil.
