Treating mastitis in cows, with low-cost and climate resilient, herbal regimen

Mastitis is an inflammation of one or more quarters of the udder (dairy herds) usually caused by bacterial infection. Several types of bacteria cause distinctly different mastitis infections. As a consequence, the udder is inflamed, swollen, and blood may come out with milk which yields to reduction in milk yields. The mastitis is caused by bacterial infection that can be treated by antibiotics, however, poor cow-keepers cannot afford or sometimes do not have access to. Additional, the use of antibiotics lead to residual antibiotics in milk and can lead to anti-microbial resistance on the long run. An alternative treatment which is not synthetic in nature can be used. This treatment can be made of betel leaves and castor oil. The mixed paste is offered orally as well as applied on the udder. This practice is effective, low-cost and climate resilient.
