Workshop “Family Farming Development Prospects in Georgia”

On September 18, 2015 a workshop on the Family Farming Development Prospects in Georgia was held by the Biological Farming Association Elkana with participation of representatives from the organizations working on agricultural issues. The workshop was organized within the framework of the programme financed by Brot fur die Welt.

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) data, family farming plays a crucial role in the world’s food production – 70% of the world’s food is produced in the family farms. Therefore, 2014 was declared as the International Year of Family Farming (IYFF) by FAO. Special events, dedicated to the IYFF, were held in different countries throughout the world and the national committees were established to develop supportive policies for family farming.
