For a long and healthy life, we all need good quality air, food and water. Unlike air and water, to be available and consumable, food needs to be produced, processed, and often transported and traded – a chain of actions that constitute the ‘food system’. We stand ready to transform our food systems to bring about more efficiency and inclusiveness for better production, nutrition, environment, and life.

The FAO World Food Day photo contest for Europe and Central Asia calls on everyone living in this vast and diverse region to use the power of photography to document the current state of our food systems or showcase future-looking ideas and initiatives.
