Labor-saving technique and technologies: harvest processing using animal and motor power


Below are some examples of the use of animal energy as a source of energy for post-harvest operations. It describes in detail the characteristics of animal-drawn equipment, motorized grain milling (plate, roller and hammer mills), motorized oil extraction (screw press, cage press and centrifugal cracker for palm oil), motorized processing of cassava, motorized rice husks (Engleberg type, rubber husker, disk husker and rice polisher) and coffee processing (huskers and coffee huskers). Advantages and disadvantages are also described, including labor savings, strengthening livelihood resilience, diversifying livelihoods and improving resilience, equipment, infrastructure, risks and costs.
