From subsistence to competitiveness – the path of an agricultural farm
Lately, Romania registered an increase in demand on the vegetables and fruits market. Analysts say that consumers ask for vegetable and fruits which are produced in Romania, as they are considered healthier and more tasteful. A study published at the beginning of this year says that seven out of ten Romanians prefer fresh vegetables and are more and more interested in a healthier lifestyle. Vegetable consumption per capita increased from 151 kilograms, in 2001, to over 182, at the end of 2013, an increase 1.3 higher than the one in Bulgaria, and 1.7 higher than the one in Hungary.
