Step by step conversion to organic agriculture

This practice describes, step by step, how to convert traditional agricultural practices to organic agriculture practices. The information provided showcases how first and foremost knowledge on the functioning and the possibilities of the management of natural processes is important. Familiarization with organic practices is also recommended such as mulching, intercropping, composting, green manuring, organic pest management, leguminous tree planting, on-farm production of animal feed, as well as appropriate seed planting material and construction of bunds. Specifications are given on which crops to grow during conversion and there is also a crop selection criteria. Recommendations are given on how to mitigate contamination risks from pesticides and genetically modified organisms.
