Falling in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year´s ​observance puts in evidence ​not just the need, but also our capacity to build back better by ensuring human rights are central to recovery efforts. It is a good occasion to recall the universality and indivisibility of human rights, including people's right to health, ​food, education, housing, decent work, social security, and more generally to an adequate standard of living. 

This perspective was clearly echoed by the international community in the past few months. Namely, representatives at the High Level meeting of the Committee on World Food Security, the World Food Day celebrations and the launch of the Food Coalition expressed with a common voice their commitment to the human right to adequate food.
