This video has been produced on the occasion of the Private Sector Forum on Food Security in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Region that was held in Barcelona on 5 and 6 May 2015. While family farming and small businesses have always been vital to food security and economic development, the business environment in the southern and eastern Mediterranean region remains among the least conducive to Small and Medium Enterprises growth. Producer organizations can help smallholders coordinate supply to the market, helping to reduce losses, coordinate the provision of financial services and support capacity building for food standards.
