About one month after planting, sugar beet is hacked for the first time in the sugar beet trial in Montignez/JU. Milo Stoecklin from the Fondation Rurale Interjurassienne will present Steketee's IC-Weeder and Garford's Robocrop Inrow Weeder. Both machines are designed for vegetable production and recognise the crop by its shape and colour. The plant recognition system quickly reaches its limits with sugar beet plants - compared to a salad seedling. These machines were compared with the usual weed control with harrow and hoe. The conclusion: The conventional hoe and harrow does a very good job. The InRow Weeder from Garford performs well and the IC-Weeder from Steketee works satisfyingly.
