Farm cart technology for smallholder farmers

Farm cart technology is a local solution to small agricultural producers who are not in a position to buy and/or hire advanced farm machines like tractors and power tillers due to cost constraints. Most smallholder farmers are in rural areas, therefore they produce foods that satisfy only family consumption. Mostly they use local tools like hand hoes and oxen which are time-consuming, with the farm cart technology farmers will be able to perform farm works with the same satisfactions as using other heavy machines like tractors at cheapest cost which is affordable to smallholder farmers up to 50 percent cost reduction. The technology is performing the following activities:

  • planting;
  • ploughing;
  • water pump station (pumping);
  • cargo (pulling up to 700 kg at 18° to 28° inclination);
  • boom spraying system;
  • mowering;
  • maize shelling system;
  • farm transport (four people sitting comfortably);
  • and fertigation.
