Tunis September 1, 2016: The regional workshop on the use of gender statistics in the field of agriculture and the plans to integrate the gender issue in agricultural statistics was launched on Thursday, September 1st 2016 by Mr Taieb Baccouche, Secretary General of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU), in the presence of Mr Lamourdia Thiombiano, FAO Sub regional Coordinator for North Africa.

The exchanging of ideas and the groups’ interaction showcased the experiences of different countries and the development of regional frameworks for statistical data disaggregated by gender; on the long-run, it is an opportunity to improve the data production based on gender perspective, and to strengthen the agricultural sector analysis within this same approach.
