Круг полномочий:	(a) определение проблем и потребностей региона в стандартизации и контроле качества пищевых продуктов; (б) в рамках Комитета содействие контактам по взаимному обмену информацией о предлагаемых инициативах в области регулирования и проблемах, связанных с контролем качества пищевых продуктов; помощь в развитии инфраструктуры контроля за пищевыми продуктами; (в) рекомендации Комиссии по разработке международных стандартов на продукты, представляющие интерес для данного региона, включая продукты, имеющие возможность выхода на международной рынок в будущем; (г) разработка региональных стандартов на пищевые продукты, являющиеся исключительно или почти исключительно предметом торговли внутри данного региона; (д) привлечение внимания Комиссии к любым аспектам работы Комиссии, представляющим особую значимость для данного региона; (e) содействие координации всей региональной работы по стандартизации пищевых продуктов, осуществляемой международными государственными и негосударственными организациями в данном регионе; (ж) исполнение общей координирующей роли в регионе и иных функций, которые могут быть поручены Комиссией; (з) оказание содействия членам в использовании стандартов и родственных текстов Кодекса.
