Philippine Department of Agriculture promoting national standards for World Food Safety Day

The Philippine Department of Agriculture - Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (DA-BAFS) will be supporting the celebration of the World Food Safety Day 2023 through a webinar.
The webinar entitled, "From farm to plate, making food safe: A Webinar on Food Safety-related Standards" will be aired live via DA-BAFS' Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/da.bafs) on 8 June, 2023 at 13.30–16.30 hours local time (19.30–22.30 hours CEST).
With this webinar, the organizers aim to promote food safety - Philippine National Standards (PNS), i.e. codes of practice - in three sectors of agriculture: crops, livestock & poultry, and fishery sectors:
- PNS/BAFS 141:2019 GAP for Rice - set of consolidated safety and quality standards covering the production, harvesting and on-farm post-harvest handling and storage of rice;
- PNS/BAFS 267:2022 GAHP for Swine - general principles of good practice and minimum requirements in breeding, commercial, and backyard rearing/farming of swine for breeding and food use; and
- PNS/BAFS 196:2022 Code of GAqP for Milkfish and Tilapia - practices to prevent or reduce the risk of hazards occurring during aquaculture production, harvesting, postharvest handling of milkfish and tilapia and ensuring aquatic animal health and welfare.
