World Food Safety Day/ Learning, knowledge and awareness raising in India

Food Safety Works, a food safety consultancy firm, observed World Food Safety Day with different activities through various platforms creating awareness about food safety and managing unexpected incidents that can hamper the food safety management system. These activities kicked off in the last week of May and built up to the occasion of World Food Safety Day on 7 June.

On World Food Safety Day itself, Food Safety Works conducted a knowledge session on ‘Food Safety: Don’t Get Caught Off Guard.’ The webinar was conducted by Ms Sarika Agarwal, Managing Director and Principal Consultant, Food Safety Works, Bangalore.

On 8 June 2024, Food Safety Works also conducted a consumer-centric learning session on ‘Eat Smart: Unpacking Food Labels Myths’ This interactive session was led by Mr Ramesh Agarwal, Chief Executive Officer, Food Safety Works, Bangalore.

In addition, a range of activities was conducted to celebrate World Food Safety Day 2024:

  1. Food Safety Essay Competition:  With our belief that ‘it all starts at a young age’ we invited all school children across India to participate in the contest on the occasion of World Food Safety Day. Students were invited to show their writing skills through the essay with the theme ‘Food Safety: Ensuring a Healthy Future’. Students from Std.7th to 12th were encouraged to participate in the competition.
  2. Food Safety Quiz: Food Safety Works also arranged a Food Safety Quiz open to all students, professionals, and consumers. The quiz was aimed at enhancing the overall knowledge about food safety, handling, and label reading.
  3. FatAFat Food Safety Videos: FatAFat Food Safety is an initiative by Food Safety Works to make people aware of food safety through quick learning videos. On World Food Safety Day, Food Safety Works launched two informative videos about the ‘Importance of Waste Management for Food Safety’ and ‘Importance of Food Label Reading’. These videos can be accessed here

Food Safety Works will also host the second edition of India Food Safety Conclave. This event is happening on 21 June 2024 at Bangalore International Centre. This will be a one-of-a-kind event bringing together people from industries, academies and governing authorities to delve into the insights of food safety research, best practices, and regulations surrounding it. Through this conclave, Food Safety Works is also introducing the ‘Food Safety Culture Awards’ to celebrate excellence in promoting and upholding food safety and its standards across the industries.
