ACT/ New videos now out!

22/10/2024

Three videos have been produced that describe the FAO-implemented and Republic of Korea-funded Action to support implementation of Codex AMR texts (ACT) project and demonstrate some of the successes of the project in the Plurinational State of Bolivia.

The first video provides an overview of the Project, describing the four key areas in which improvement will help drive the fight against foodborne antimicrobial resistance. Those four project components promote improved awareness, monitoring and surveillance, governance, and good practices. In the video, project leaders and participants talk about the work they are doing, the successes they have seen and the anticipated outcomes of this work.

"The ACT project began in 2021, and this video shares the journey of our colleagues in Bolivia. In just three years, I am very proud of not only what we've achieved so far but also the hard work and dedication of our team. While this video focuses on Bolivia, the story reflects the progress of every country involved. And we have many more stories to tell,” said Dr Myoengsin Choi, the coordinator of the ACT project.

A further two videos go into detail about the tools that have been developed by FAO through the ACT project to assess and then improve governance and surveillance. One video focuses on the ACT Tool, which was developed in collaboration with the legal department to help countries assess their legislative frameworks for gaps or weaknesses where improvements can be made to better manage and regulate antimicrobial use. The third video highlights efforts to improve governance structures, informed in part by data, which is derived from surveillance plans developed with reference to the Codex Guidelines on Integrated Monitoring and Surveillance of Foodborne AMR. Analysis of these data using FAO’s InFARM IT platform then assists the countries in question, as well as at a global level, to better understand the AMR threat.
