The Faculty of Industrial Chemistry and Environmental Engineering, University POLITEHNICA Timisoara, Romania joined the WHO and FAO campaign on World Food Safety Day by organizing the “Youth and Food Safety Competition”. Five themes on food chain components that greatly impact food safety were proposed to middle school, high school and college students for a poster presentation. The project registration took place 7–28 May and the final of the competition took place on site on7 June, World Food Safety Day.

A total of 139 participants from 14 counties took part and the jury had the difficult task of selecting the most deserving submissions, which were rewarded with prizes and mentions. The award ceremony of the winners was accompanied by a symposium dedicated to the presentation of innovative food safety activities of 11 companies from the Romanian food industry, as well as the means by which qualified institutions ensure the control of food products through advanced physico-chemical methods. More than 70 participants watched the presentations and then continued the discussions at the companies' stands, located in the lobby of the Faculty of Industrial Chemistry and Environmental Engineering, strengthening existing relationships with the economic environment or establishing new ones.

The event was promoted on Facebook and Instagram pages where the pictures, banners available on the WFDS website and the words recommended were shared and on different Romanian newspapers websites and TV.
