A webinar will be held to commemorate World Food Safety Day in Africa under the theme: "Preparing for Food Safety Emergencies in the African Region".

The event is convened through collaboration by the Regional Offices for FAO and WHO, the World Food Programme, the African Union - InterAfrican Bureau for Animal Resources and the FAO/WHO Coordinating Committee for Africa.

The main objective of the regional webinar is to create awareness amongst stakeholders in the region in order to generate discussions and ideas on action to enhance preparedness in countries when the unexpected occurs and Food Safety is potentially compromised.

The target audience includes: Food regulators; authorities responsible for Food Safety and Public Health from different Ministries, departments and agencies of governments; nutrition program managers; FAO, WHO, WFP and other relevant UN agencies interested staff; NGOs in the field of Food Safety and Nutrition; Consumer organizations; Private sector and Food Business Operators; Farmers; Codex Contact Points in the region; International Food Safety Authorities Network members in the region; national Food and Nutrition Research Institutes and Academia.
