World Food Safety Day activities in Pakistan to focus on foodborne antimicrobial resistance

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) office in Pakistan is planning a range of World Food Safety Day activities in collaboration and consultation with the Animal Husbandry Commissioner Office of Pakistan, the World Health Organization (WHO) in Pakistan, the Fleming Fund, and the Islamabad Food Authority.
The events focus on issues related to foodborne antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and include:
- TV and radio appearances.
- an “Awareness Walk” on 7 June with representatives from the Islamabad Food Authority and the World Health Organization;
- a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner and Islamabad Food Authority representatives on Food Safety and Food Borne AMR on 7 June;
- an awareness raising seminar on World Food Safety Day and AMR at the Rawalpindi Women University on 7 June;
- an in-person awareness raising seminar on World Food Safety Day and AMR at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi on 7 June;
- an awareness activity for the community for safe food practices and AMR 8 June
