For "Safe Food, Sustainable Health" and under the slogan “Preparing for the Unexpected” and to raise awareness about food safety incidents and prepare for any emergency related to food safety and foodborne diseases the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad in Iraq organized World Food Safety Day events.

The events aimed to highlight the importance of food safety in achieving sustainable development goals, enhancing food security, and spreading awareness about the challenges facing this vital field.

The events included two informative and knowledge-rich dialogue sessions. The first session included a scientific lecture entitled “Challenges Facing Food Safety, Sustainable Development, and Food Security.”

The second session was about “The three factors in ecosystems and their Impact on the reality of agricultural and animal production.”

The symposium resulted in a number of recommendations for this event, including:

1-     The strategic direction to identify the various environmental dilemmas and problems in Iraq and develop appropriate solutions through effective means, technologies, and scenarios, in addition to cooperation with international organizations in this field;

2-     Encouraging and educating on the concept of food security in different segments of society;

3-     Conducting studies and research concerned with the environment, pollution and the production of healthy food in line with global sustainable development;

4-     Intensifying the holding of courses or workshops to delve into the details of environmental pollution and how to develop quick and long-term solutions, especially with what is consistent with population growth and industrial development;

5-     Continuous coordination with regional and international bodies and various bodies to effectively address the imbalance in the environmental balance and produce healthy food and focus on quality to limit the production of genetically modified foods.
