Flathead grey mullet - Nutritional deficiencies

Nutritional deficiencies will often lead to reduced growth rates and higher FCR.

Essential fatty acid requirements for the larvae have often been emphasized. Indeed, enriched Artemia nauplii improve the larval growth (Eda et al., 1990), and the resistance to physical stress such as handling, thus reducing significantly the mortality (Ako et al., 1994).

Conversely, a diet too rich in proteins and lipids will have a detrimental effect on the flathead grey mullet (Gautier and Hussenot, 2005).
