Based on hydroacoustic technique (which excluded the shore area and the surface layer) a stock (AG> I) of 2.5 × 106 whitefish (Coregonus lavaretus) (with 95 % confidence limits of 1.7 and 3.7 × 106) was estimated for Upper Lake (Obersee) of Lake Constance in October 1983 (Dahm et al., 1985).
Now, from final virtual-population analysis - including the shore area and the surface layer - a stock of 7.2 × 106 whitefish (AG > I) for the Upper Lake of Lake Constance is calculated.
