45. The Committee was informed of a proposal prepared by FAO on the theme for the sixth session of CIFA, which would deal with the planning, management and development of inland fisheries of Africa (document CIFA/83/7).
46. The interrelationship of the different uses of inland waters must be properly understood. A sound policy through planning and management could thus be adopted for the better utilization of inland waters.
47. It was also mentioned that, in addition to the above-mentioned topics, emphasis should be placed on statistics and economical development. The Committee unanimously agreed to adopt the theme on planning, management and development of inland fisheries in Africa as presented in document CIFA/83/7.
