4. Infrastructural Changes

Since 1989 there has been a considerable change in the management of recreational fisheries, from a central monopolized system under the control of the State, to a decentralized structure. With the exception of Slovakia, which has maintained a single Fisheries' Union (although some of its farms are managed privately), the other countries are in the process of privatizing their whole fisheries sector, so that recreational fisheries management is falling under the control of independent organizations. The Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland seem to be more advanced in this process, both with respect to recreational and commercial fisheries/aquaculture.
