PREPARATION OF THIS REPORT
This is the final version of the report approved by the Second Session of the Working Party on Aquaculture of the Commission for Inland Fisheries of Latin America (COPESCAL).
ABSTRACT |
This is the final report of the Second Session of the Working Party on Aquaculture of the Commission for Inland Fisheries of Latin America (COPESCAL), held in Guayaquil, Ecuador, from 22 to 26 September 1986. The main topics were reviews of the present status of aquaculture in each country and activities arising out of the recommendations of the Fourth Session of COPESCAL: orientation of the FAO/Italy Regional Aquaculture Programme and related efforts by the regional bodies active in aquaculture. |
Particular emphasis was laid on the two latter items, in view of the opportunities for interagency regional cooperation and the prospects afforded by the FAO/Italy Regional Programme, which operates sub-stations in a number of countries. These and other topics, such as rural aquaculture, the use of small lakes and dams and the preparation of technological packages for the culture of local species led to the formulation of a number of recommendations which follow each sub-heading. Further information is provided in the Annexes. |
