Seamoss (Kappaphycus alvarezii) is an important aquatic product for people across the Caribbean, most often processed into a health food drink. Seamoss farming and processing offers a livelihood generating activity, often being conducted by farming cooperatives - and reduces the pressure on wild harvest. FAO support has been provided under several projects to improve production techniques, adapt to climate change, and work towards strengthening the value chain.
