A Mediterranean Dialogue to explore future of Sustainable Food Systems

02/12/2021

Focusing on the theme Pathways for the future of Sustainable Food Systems in the Mediterranean, the UNFSS Independent Dialogue will take stock of regional and national efforts in following up to the UN Food Systems Summit, allowing to exchange on the way forward and identify opportunities for collaboration at national and regional level for more sustainable food systems in the Mediterranean.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, 9 December at 10:30 Rome time. The Agenda features a roundtable moderated by Mr. David Nabarro, Food Systems Summit Dialogues Senior Advisor, with the participation of National Convenors from Albania, Egypt, Italy, Turkey, as well as stakeholders’ representatives from the Arab Women Organization, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), EIT Food, and BETA Technological Center.

This event builds on the findings of the two previous SFS-MED Dialogues held on 27 April and 21 June 2021 within the framework of the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit, whose findings are summarized in this executive brief. The three dialogues are jointly organized by the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfMS), the United Nations One Planet Network’s Sustainable Food Systems Programme (OPN-SFSP), and the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA).
