Country introduction
Summary:

South Sudan gained its independence on 9tt July 2011 after the PA period expired from Sudan. This creates a unique windows of opportunities for the republic of South Sudan and its institutions to formulate new development frameworks and set new standards for service delivery. The South Sudan National Bureau of Standards (SSNBS) was first been working as a branch of Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization before independence (SSMO). After the independence it was established as SSNBS under the act 2012 for standards and weight and measures. It is the mandatory body that is responsible to enforce standards in protection of public health and safety and environment.
